Monday.. Monday

Monday Monday, so good to me,
Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still be here with me.

Monday Monday, can't trust that day,
Monday Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be
Oh Monday Monday, how yould cou leave and not take me.

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
You can find me cryin' all of the time

Monday Monday, so good to me,
Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still be here with me.

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
You can find me cryin' all of the time

Monday Monday, ...

Not going to mention what I really want to mention.

Phew! One HOT Sunday

Gonna be a scorcher today..
Who's where, when and for gods sake,, why?

I was thinking after 4:00 pm,
Oh I miss those marine clouds.

I"m sure ball girls like this would raise the tennis level.

Hot Saturday.

Looks like it will be a hot one today.. calling for 88, probably be over 90 on the courts.
Bring plenty of libation and sun screen.

Might want to play early to avoid all that hot stuff in the PM. I'm going up around 10:30.

Plenty of action yesterday as Niky alluded too.. Well don't forget pack your bags, pack your racquet and get on down to the courts!

Friday

Lots of guys at Upper Woodland this afternoon/evening. Bindu, Roman, Norm, Huong, Mario (Mr. I don't want to play with anyone but Huong), Swanky (made a brief appearance) and Peter on the better surfaced courts. On the other courts I saw Rob, Richard, and few others...I can't remember who else.

Overall it was really nice. The wind died down which made it feel like the 90s when we were playing. Squirrels were after Roman today dropping pine cones on him while he was lying in the grass. Roman tried to tell the squirrels to "mellow out," but that seemed to aggravate them more. Mario attempted to throw a pine cone at them and like I said it was an attempt. It was good times today. It's going to be hot hot hot this weekend so bring lots of water.

Going off the board here with an update. Mario and I played doubles at the STC Har-Tru courts and beat Conrad McCormick and Taylor Jackon 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Best I've ever seen Mario play. So long and Godspeed.

Court update.

Where are the workers?

Where are the workers?

Have you seen the workers?

Thursday and Friday

I heard there were a lot of faces at Upper Woodland yesterday, I'm bummed that I missed it. Weather looks a bit gloomy today but, the clouds should burn off by this afternoon. I definitely plan on being out on the courts after work tomorrow, which is around 5. I hope to see some of you out there still.

I just got my new racquets...yes I got new racquets AGAIN because, one of my green graphites cracked. My new WMDs are the Prince Ozone Pro Tour. I'll probably break them it with Mario on the Har-Tru courts at the STC. Hope to see you on the courts....now it's back to Wimbledon Radio.

Thursday

The weather is much cooler here in W.S this morning. I'll be at Lincoln Pk at 10:30. So, come on down.
We need more players. Dave

Tennis tourney

Yes it's true. Kenny gave me to power to post!

Today Mario and I went to Lincoln Park to play some tennis. It was aight but, there was nobody there. Word must have spread that Mario was making his way to the...WEST SIDE!

Anyway, I think I mentioned this to a couple of guys but, I had the idea that we should have a "Wood Racquet Only" Tournament. At least for now a "Wood Racquet Only" Doubles tourney because it would be easier to organize and get more players involved. Sound like a cool idea? I think it would be the shiznizzle to break out the wood racquets and start banging some balls old school son! A few guys were definitely interested.

Monday's Results

Must be tennis vacation..
Roman and I vs. Dean and Dewight
Good match except someone in the middle of the match wanted to bail.. it wasn't Dean, Roman or myself, I"m not saying who though. Probably cause he couldn't hold serve we all speculate. I thought maybe I saw a tear drop..

Lou came by briefly only to remind Mario of some important matter. Saw Mario on the phone, we suspect to get a game going in WS.

Alot of fat was chewed, conversation always seems to start one way and end up with how so and so looked in the stand.. yadayadayada.. so it goes.

I'm still working on my house, seems everything takes so long to get done, looking for a roomate and a new tenant for down stairs. They come in see the scary cat and all the tennis racquet's and scurry hurriedly on their way.. and I'm not sure it is merry. I'm sticking with that story.

Lower woodland courts are progressing in a steady manner I guess, if anyone has new pictures, we sure would like to see them. These courts are getting old.. especially the cracks.. I think I saw a ball just stick in one of them, in much the same way that a ball gets caught in the net.. kinda funny.

Oh well, come out one, come out all, tennis is served.

Monday Lincoln Park

My doubles partner Pat has lost his cell phone. I'll be at Lincoln Park around 1pm or so with Gordon. Maybe some lower woodland players will show? Sounds like we might see Mario here soon. We'll take what we can get, big hitters are welcome too, there is the hitting wall for them, and sometimes Boeing players drop by. Yesterday I saw Bret and Ken Gage there, I would say those guys are above 3.5 level for sure. So, see you all there this afternoon. Dave

Sunday..

Confronted and accousted by 3.+ players.. oh wait, it was Mario. A-game - 4.0, B-game 3.0 = 3.5

Other than that it was a mix mash of different players and players. Mario and Norm, split sets with Dwight and Kevin. Sprague was there after winning his finals at the city open, to inflict his punishment on some others. Ben and Ray played, Taj was there.

Lets see, Others showed some 3.0 moves by warming up a player and then walking off, thereby freezing him.

We'll see you all on Monday.. at the big courts
at the upper courts.

Ah, Sunday

At 3pm Saturday Tim, Joe and RailRoad Ron finally showed up and played with me at Lincoln Park. We only played two sets, but it was good. Ron said the courts are good, but I need to go to where the tennis players. There were plenty of open courts.
I may make it to upper woodland tomorrow with Pat.

Ahhhh Sunday..

I played Port Townsend Saturday..
There were 16 of us at the 4 courts.

On Saturdays they all seem to come out, early, around 8 and stay till noon.
Then they're done.. for the week.
I figure most of them are pretty old.. 60's and older, there are a handfull younger, but..
I'll keep playing at Greenlake for the time being.
Most would be perfect for Lincoln park.

Gonna be out Sunday, probably after lunch..
gotta apt to rent out in the morning.. anyone interested, give you a good deal..

ok, lets all go out and get some good games going, its a weekend so doubles will be the game of the day.

Friday

Its sunny,
Its hot

Question is where ya gonna be? Upper courts players.
Yeah it gets crowded and today should be full.

We already know, some like Mario will be at Lincoln, for reasons known to all and not worthy to mention here is this respected blog.

I'll be there early noonish cause I know thats what everyone looks forward to.. well ok, they'd rather see Tish beat up on the boys there.

Bring somthing chilled cause the water out there is rather weak to say the least.

Oh I went over to see how the lower courts were coming along.. seems that theyve placed the stone foundation down. What, they pad it down and pour?

ok,, remember, hit through the ball and follow through.. though the follow through is a by - product of a good swing and is not manufactured.

Wed Tennis..

OK I guess not every one got the word.. Tish was there.. where were you all?
Turned out to be a nice day and only a hand full of us were there.. granted Dean was there but still, come on!

Dean and I played Tish and Mario in doubles.. we let Tish and Mario think they could win before we closed the door on them, was no match really. I hope they can learn from our double Tie breaker win. Actually we really sucked.. I especially.

You know it is hard to focus and concentrate when you have distractions.. I don't mean those on the court, but those else where. I had home commitments that I needed to do and I snuck out to play, but should have been home,, kinda haunted me all day. My play as a result really was bad, you know, just no focus and no real desire. I'm finding out, I can play really good but then boy can I play bad.

I'm not taking anything away from Tish and that "i wanna play in Lincoln park" guy, Mario, they did have some good shots, Mario was serving fantastic, I think he won all his game love.

So Baily comes.. and Taj, an Lou and we play doubles, Paul is hurt, we play together.. Yuch, talk about your stink, every opportunity I had I showed everyone what and how to hit the net or hit the fence..

I've decided upon my last outing that it would be best if I didn't play until the next time I play.

Wong showed up.. btw, thats not how his name is spelled, but, good enough, he played with Badtossbindu and his new racquet.

No altercations today, no skirmishes, rather ordinary.

cya at the courts..

Wed Tennis

Tuesday - Rather slow today, I was there briefly at the upper courts to try out my new weapon.. Fischer m pro 1.. I like it and am ready for all who dare!

Tish was there.. wanted everyone to know, seems she thinks no one knows, and if they did know, everyone would be there.. so I guess nobody knew.

That being said, Dean was also there, and he figured everyone knew he would be there so they all stayed away. I did my best to assure him that not everyone knew he was there so there had to be another reason.

Paul came down to warm up anyone who was going to play.. seems he has become sort of a designated warm up guy. But, I find it alittle much when he wants to warm you up, in between change overs. Kinda odd. Maybe he forgets to wear the pyramid to bed or somthing.

Joseph, made a rare appearance from 160th.. the garden of the tennis world, guess no one see's fit to go there, I dont know why though, its so far. Unfortunetly, as soon as he got there everyone left, though I did see a boy and his dog come to play.. oh that would be Peter and Max.
Funny, Max always barks when Peter's losing.

Well just a fore-warning.

Dean will be at Upper courts Wed.. I know, I can't believe it either, but its true..
and
Tish, don't call me Trish will be there also. She for all who don't know is one of the only fem's to come to play, but she comes from over in Siberia for visits and stays only a couple of days.. It works out well cause I don't know how long we can keep our good behavior going if she stayed any longer.

Well see ya all at the courts.

Tuesday Lincoln Park

The regulars at Lincoln Park will start at 9am. Clyde from the senior tour will probably be there. Beware of the speed trap at the school just before the park, they aready nabbed Coon there recently. I'll be there around 5pm, hopefully on court 1, it's in the shade then.

Monday

There was sun
There was clear ski's
and
There was some good tennis.

A bunch of us regulars were up at the Upper Courts Sunday for some good play and good times.

See you today..

Sunday

Tennis at Lincoln Park today at 1pm will be Pat and Gordon Vs. Tim and Joe from Lower Woodland. I'll be there as a sub.
These pictures were taken on Saturday, of the Magnolia mixer with Roy Prior.
For those of you that feel like hitting the road, see you at Lincoln Park around 1pm. Remember, lots of open courts.Dave

Saturday..

Sunny.. well the clouds are breaking up anyway.

After some good tennis in cool overcast conditions friday, today just begs for more.
Most of us, as I hear it will be down.. or should say, up at the Upper courts. There was talk about 160th today, but that was quickly squashed due to it's distance, but was praised for surface quality.

Upper courts it is.. Bring Racquets, buns and libation.. amenities are rather scarce.

cya ot courts.

Saturday, Magnolia mixer event at 1pm today.

Friday.. Thank God it's sunny.

Well forcasted to be sunny by the afternoon.. and Sat looks to be really good.

We had the courts full Thursday as the sun came out finally. seemed almost like the good ole days. I and Ray showed Tim and the Spiderman the finer art of really how to lose a match.. ok 4 of them. I hope they learn something from that.

Roman was seen.. and the Baily bros were there.. so it was pretty full. I'm going to see If I can get out there earlier tomorrow, play I don't know.. doubles?

So its friday, come out early, Roman has suggested bring some refreshments and snack stuff.. not a bad idea.

TTFN

Thursday .. tennis fest

Finally, a day to play! I guess it is true, even the sun shines on a dogs A** once in a occasion. What is it.. 12 straight days of sub 60 degree weather? Almost have to thank god for global warming.. sheeez.

Soo.. its thursday and I will be out around 3:00 pm at the upper courts, alot of us have been going there as it is the easiest place, still to get to.

Bring your A game, remember to watch the spin, and always hit through the ball.

cya there!

Wednesday

After a less than steller tennis day yesterday, today appears to be a whole lot better. Clearing sky's for this afternoon means tennis in the upper courts.

Looks to be around 3:00 pm, I know several have expressed their commitment to be there.

Nick, what time do you expect to be around? If you get there earlier, let me know.

Thanks..

Tuesday..

More rain.. will it ever break??

Soooo, back in 04 or something, you know, I start coming out to play. I had decided that I'd pick up the game again after 10 years of absence. I can't hit the ball worth crap, my legs are cramping up, I have utterly no depth perception, I can't hit. My first person I meet is Taj.. you know, he's running me all over the place and i'm gasping all over. I'm wondering then if it was the right decision to play, I have my doubts and I"m seriously reconsidering.

I try it again the next day.. yep, still can't hit the ball, though once in a while I get one over but not enough to convince me to stay. 6-pack comes up to me and challenges me to a set of singles.. mind you, I still can't hit, run or anythi8ng.. I say ok, what the hell I've seen him play. end of story he beets me for a buck or something maybe 5. Little did I know what I was getting into.. If you hear his story its at least 5 times for hundreds of dollars that he's won from me. A true Minnesota fish story if there ever was one.

RAIN..

Who would have guessed?

Blog contributions

I see alot of you all taking a looksie and, I know for a fact that alot of you have a lot to say.. I've heard you. email me at ken@lwto.org and lets hear from you.

Reasons to post

Its fun
Players enjoy hearing from you
tennis talk is always fun
Have a venue to express and release those inner desires to tell it how it is.
Your a tennis player, there fore you are a participator there fore your a doer.
Its a good medium to share ideas.
Keeps you off the street
Makes you look like you have somthing to do.

I can go on and on.. but I won't.. you go..

I'll be over taking some updated pictures of the courts possibly today.. the old/new courts at lower woodland that is.

Monday..

Great tennis day today, courts were filled at the Upper courts.
The weather.. finally a simulance (sp> of a decent day. Slowly but surly I see a trend.. players are trickling towards 50th st courts. It has taken awhile but they are coming. Seems it is still the most central gathering place for players to congregate. So lets go, lets play some tennis.

Dave from WS is still looking for players down in Lincoln, if your down that way, might stop by and see whats happening.

So tomorrow, I and a few others will be at the upper courts, I my self will be there around 3:00 pm after my new carpets are put in.. hoooraah! and hope to see you all there.

Sunday.. Any questions?

Its dry all day today, time to make up for all that lost tennis we haven't had. Besides, what else are you going to do with all that extra time you have due to the abbreviated FO.

There was a nice gathering up at the Upper courts yesterday, and I expect the same sort of turn-out today.

It will be very interesting for Roger, the next couple of months. Novak, Nadal and other upstarts have very legitimate chances of usurping the Swiss star at Wimbledon and the US Open this year. Victory for Roger is not as certain as in previous years thats for sure. That being said, Yoiu have to believe that Roger is still the favorite at the next two GS events.

You know I was listening to the commentators and they keep referencing Laver and someone else as winning the Grand Slam in the colander year. I was just wondering if we could just come up with a designation for that, so that we don't always have to hear the "in the colander year" addendum. Perhaps something like, the 'Golden Slam', I don't know, something, I'm just tired of hearing the commentators always having to differentiates winning all the slams and winning all the slams in a colander year. Years ago, you won a grand slam event, but it wasn't considered winning the grand slam unless you did win all in the calender year.

Well lets all play today, get some tennis in!

Saturday Tennis.. precarious at best?

Hard to say where everyone plays.. no one says.

I'll be at the upper courts, tomorrow, around noon weather permitting. If that fails I'll be home working around the house, moving things. rearranging things.. and anyone completely bored is welcome to help.. I promise nothing but thanks.

Back to where everyone is playing.. at the upper courts we get quite a few better players, meaning 3.5 and upper. Ben Carlos is showing up now, Dean, myself, Lou, Mario, Swanky and others have been there reguraly. Perhaps we like to suffer through adverse conditions and the Upper courts are adverse giving a real challenge to us rec players.

cya there.. God willing.

Cold, wet Friday..

Looks like another day for the indoor activity sorts.

Saturday looks to be alittle better, I don't see the rain drops in the map.

OK, soo what is your indoor activity when you can't play tennis?

Today I'll be watching the french open, well at least it will be on the tube. I'll be moving books, clearing out my spare room and cleaning the tenant apartment. That should take me to the end of the day.

I'm going to predict another Federer/Nadal finale, anyone disagree?
Nadal winning.. I think Safina is looking pretty good, playing hard and it has been paying off for her. If she is not just happy to be in the finales, then I see her winning.

Thursday..

Looks like rain in the PM. Oh surprise.

Lets hear your thoughts.. be good to hear what everyone thinks..

Rain

My its wet today. Looks like a good day to stay at work and collect that OT, everyone has been putting off. The steady rain looks like it will taper off later to just showers. Tomorrow will be alittle better with scattered showers.

Quite a few were up at the upper courts Monday. Although the courts are in disarray, Upper courts are easily the best place to hook up a game. I have heard from a few that it is hard to see if anyone is there. Easily explained as there is no natural area for congregation, players either park on the street or come in from the parking lot. Mind you, that it is heavily wooded and hard to see so even though it may appear empty, chances are someone is there.

Does anyone else find the French Open to be boring? Maybe its just the nature of the red clay, it just doesn't seem to reward skill and grace, but instead rewards the brute strength of a player's shot. Somehow it seems a little ironic in a way I can't explain.. The French with all their finesse and elegence reverts to brutish strength. Just a little Napoleon somehow.

OH well,, looks like Nadal and Anna huh?

Roy Prior is having another tennis mixer on Saturday June 14th at 1pm at the Magnolia tennis courts. He doesn't have a computer.

Sunday..

Marine clouds make for a typical Seattle Tennis day. Pack your bags, heed your instincts and come out to Upper Woodland.
